<h2 class="wp-block-heading">On 10 December, the Public Presentation Session of the Report <em><a href="https://oddh.iscsp.ulisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/relatorio-pessoas-com-deficiencia-em-portugal-2025.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Persons with Disabilities in Portugal: Human Rights Indicators 2025,">Persons with Disabilities in Portugal: Human Rights Indicators 2025,</a></em> published annually by the Observatory on Disability and Human Rights of ISCSP, University of Lisbon, took place in the Lisbon Room at ISCSP and online.</h2>

<p>The event also included an intervention by Vera Bonvalot, Member of the Board of the European Disability Forum and President of Me-CDPD, who outlined the agenda developed by these bodies in the European and national contexts.</p>
<p>The Opening Session was chaired by Clara Marques Mendes, Secretary of State for Social Action and Inclusion, and was attended by the President of ISCSP, Ricardo Ramos Pinto. The Closing Session included the participation of the President of the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., Sónia Esperto, and the Vice-President for Research of ISCSP, Romana Xerez.</p>
<p>As usual, this was a very well-attended event, with more than 150 participants (in person and online), and wide coverage in the main media outlets (press, radio and television).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">On 2 December, the Observatory on Disability and Human Rights (ODDH) took part in the event “Portugal and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: perceptions and challenges”, promoted by the National Monitoring Mechanism of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – Me-CDPD, which took place at the António de Almeida Santos Auditorium, in the New Building of the Assembly of the Republic.</h2>

<p>During the session, the ODDH team presented the preliminary results of the study “Attitudes and Perceptions of the Portuguese Adult Population on Disability”, promoted by the National Monitoring Mechanism for the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and carried out by ODDH, of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ISCSP-ULisboa).</p>
<p>This study sought to understand what Portuguese society thinks about disability. For this purpose, a telephone questionnaire was conducted with a representative sample of the Portuguese population aged between 18 and 65 years. The fieldwork, which took place between 1 October and 30 October 2025, was carried out by E.M. Estudos de Mercado, and 1,000 valid responses were collected, in mainland Portugal and the islands, with a margin of error of ±3.10% at a 95% confidence level.</p>
