The Observatory on Disability and Human Rights (ODDH) is holding the IX ODDH Meeting – “Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Portugal in the European Context” on 10 December 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00, at ISCSP. The session will also be broadcast via Teams.
During this event, the report “Persons with Disabilities in Portugal – Human Rights Indicators 2025” will be publicly presented. Based on secondary sources, the report systematises the main statistical information on disability in Portugal in the areas of Education, Work and Employment, Social Protection and Living Conditions, comparing this information, whenever indicators allow, with other European Union countries.
In addition to the presentation of the data by the ODDH team, the session will include an intervention by Vera Bonvalot, Executive Director of the association NOVAMENTE, who will comment on the data as a member of the board and executive committee of the European Disability Forum (EDF).
This initiative also aims to promote reflection and debate on the progress made in the advancement of human rights for persons with disabilities in Portugal, comparing it with the broader European context.
The ODDH Meeting is open to the participation of all interested parties, particularly persons with disabilities, representatives of organisations of and for persons with disabilities, researchers, public policy promoters, and others interested in disability and human rights.
Participation is free of charge, subject to mandatory prior registration (until 8 December).
Note: Portuguese Sign Language interpreting will be provided.
