Cover of the Discrimination Generated by the Intersection of Gender and Disability report Cover of the Discrimination Generated by the Intersection of Gender and Disability report

This new report by the European Parliament, aims at providing an overview of discrimination legislation and practices which disabled women are faced with and at suggesting ways in which policy and law can lift barriers and enable active and equal participation in all spheres of social and private life.

The Report contains a chapter on forced sterilisation of women with disabilities, as it constitutes a clear and extreme example of intersectional discrimination on the basis of gender and disability.

The Report address a range of issues, including: Violence; Sexuality and reproduction; Employment; Education; Healthcare; Accessibility, and the feminist movement and disabled women. It addresses the participation of disabled women as citizens as being at the basis of the recognition of their dignity.

The Report makes extensive use of WWDA's work, and includes an Appendix on WWDA's campaign to end forced sterilisation in Australia, under the heading 'Inspiring Legal Frameworks Regulating Sterilisation'.

The Report is available for download in PDF at the official site.
