13-12-2017 | Poorer and more unemployed. Portrait of the persons with disabilities in Portugal

The report shows that "we still have a lot to do to make the Human Rights of people with disabilities a reality."

Much poorer and much more victims of unemployment. In short, this is the portrait of the report "People with Disabilities in Portugal - Human Rights Indicators 2017" of the Disability and Human Rights Observatory of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP) of the University of Lisbon.

The report, read by TSF, shows, for example, that registered unemployment fell sharply (18.8%) between 2011 and 2016 for the general population, but increased 26.7% in the population with disabilities.

The unemployment rate of the persons with disabilities in Portugal remains above the European Union average and well above the figures found in the rest of the Portuguese population.
